This zine is a series of non images, created accidentally by a friend using a fujifilm disposable camera. These grainy “misprints” contain multitudes more than any of the concrete photos in the set. She could have set out to capture anything in these photos, but due to technical and physical limitations, we will never see the intended composition, just ghostly memories of what could have been. Like Steyerl’s poor image, these grainy reproductions are about more than the original; they are sites of iteration, history, and wonder.

 

From pixel to print and then back again, these pages are analog and digital all at once. Physical objects become film images which become pixel, collapsing the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds that we are in flux between.
